In 2023 and 2024 we collaborated with Telescope to establish a systematic climate risk assessment at the property level, where we can easily analyse single buildings or entire portfolios in bulk.

Physical Climate Risk

Telescope helped identify buildings that are exposed to:

• Flooding
• Extreme rainfall
• Sea level rise

Reitan Eiendom found that 14% of their portfolio is at high physical climate risk.

Using Telescope, we identified which properties are most exposed to extreme weather, sea level rise and other climate-related events.

Biodiversity Risk

Telescope was used to screen for local nature and biodiversity pressures, including proximity to vulnerable natural areas.

Through the Telescope tool, we’ve mapped which properties are near vulnerable natural areas and where there is high pressure on the local ecosystem.

This allows Reitan to prioritize locations where action is needed to avoid negative impacts on nature — like adding green infrastructure or nature buffers.

Telescope also helped assess transition risk — meaning how future-fit each building is in a changing market.

For example, they looked at:

• Energy efficiency
• Long-term asset attractiveness
• Potential obsolescence due to lack of sustainable features

We also use Telescope to assess transition risk – for example, which buildings have low energy performance and are at risk of losing value in a more sustainability-focused market.
